What is it about?
Neurodivergent students make up approximately 10% of Australian classrooms, yet many of us understand very little about their experience of the school environment and curriculum. Developing teacher understanding of autism and neurodiversity enhances the practice of inclusion in schools, improves learning outcomes and social experience for students, and assists teachers in classroom management.
Participants will learn about how neurodivergent students experience the classroom environment and learning activities. They will be guided through the process of creating a plan to make their classrooms more inclusive and accessible to better support neurodivergent students.

Though the course is designed with teachers in mind, it is available not just to teachers, but will benefit people in many situations and settings and is open to anyone who would like to attend: parents, disability support workers, training teachers, anyone!
For NSW teachers, the course is NESA accredited and will contribute 5 hours of NESA registered Professional Development addressing 4.1.2, 4.3.2 and 6.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
